Introduction: I'm an experienced writer and editor with training in journalism, extensive knowledge of medicine and health care, and expertise in creative nonfiction. As an editor, I work hard to understand the writer's intent and see the reader's perspective. I'm a stickler for technical things (punctuation, diction, grammar, structure), yet I also appreciate the aesthetics of good writing--the beauty of a fresh analogy, a complex idea clearly expressed or a lyrical passage. I find it satisfying when I can help others express themselves, and I like to tell stories myself. I'm a word person in every sense. In my spare time, I teach English as a second language to immigrants, do crossword puzzles, and I read. To work or play with words is to learn, and I love learning.
