Pavitra Ramachandran is one of the most capable, gifted, and dedicated musicians I have ever met. I first met Pavitra when she began studying voice with me when she was a freshman in high school. Even then, she had a plan to pursue music as a career. She won high honors at Solo and Ensemble contests, participated in the Illinois All-State Honors Chorus, and won a coveted spot in the Concerto Competition enabling her to sing with the symphony orchestra. Pavitra continued her studies at Michigan University, majoring in music performance with a concentration in opera. She was accepted to San Francisco Conservatory of Music for graduate studies where she studied not only performance, but also pedagogy.
We spoke about her vision to train young singers with a focus on developing and maintaining a healthy vocal production that centers on solid breathing techniques, relaxed open sound, and finding the joy in singing. Pavitra’s combined superb education and experience give her the skills she needs to be an amazing teacher.
It was in San Francisco that Pavitra found an interest in marketing. She has a sincere passion to bring classical music to young people, not only as a performer, but also as a teacher and an advocate for classical music awareness. In speaking with her this past summer, I heard the excitement in her voice when she described the need to bring the voice of today’s youth into the board room of opera houses. With her experience on both sides of the issue, performing and marketing, Pavitra brings a unique talent to the table.
I have every confidence that she will be an excellent teacher and mentor. I highly recommend Pavitra as a vocal instructor for beginning to advanced intermediate voice students.

Learning from Pavitra was an amazing experience. She is so patient and offers very helpful, constructive feedback. The repertoire is engaging and diverse, so I was never bored and always felt like I was learning new skills.

I was Pavitra's private voice teaching when she was an undergraduate at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, and working with her, helping to train her voice and establish her technical vocal foundation was an wonderful experience! Pavitra is incredibly talented, intelligent and personable; she was always maximally perceptive and curious in lessons, which I think are the primary qualities in a good voice teacher. She is also a very giving person, so she will also be a teacher who focuses her attention extremely well on her students' needs in lessons. I know you will enjoy working with her!

Pavitra creates a calm and fun environment for her lessons, and always made the lessons productive, and was very patient and supportive teaching me the beginning fundamentals of singing. Thank you Pavitra!!!!
