- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Tax Preparation - Our fee is based on complexity, and the forms and schedules used to prepare the returns. Please call our office for a fee estimate that is unique to your circumstance. We offer a $50 discount to all new clients, and also a $50 Senior Discount for clients age 65 and over. Our tax preparation fee is waived for investment clients with assets over $500,000 under management. Tax Planning - We do not charge a fee for general questions that take 15 minutes or less. Our fee for detailed analysis and research: Hourly = $50 minimum fee, and $100 per hour if it takes over 30 minutes. We will give you an estimate prior to beginning the Tax Planning Project.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Gather your information: Gather your tax documents together, with the help of our Tax Organizer. Most tax documents such as W-2s and 1099s should be in your hands by January 31st. We will provide you with a Tax Organizer that you can use to organize your tax documents. Call or email us to receive your copy of the tax organizer. Send us your tax documents: Fax, Mail, or drop your information off in person. You may also send us with your tax paperwork via Secure File Transfer (Click Here) If you are a first-time client you may prefer a brief meeting to meet your tax advisor. If want to schedule a meeting, please call our office and we will be happy to schedule a time to meet with you. We prepare your return: An experienced tax preparer will work on your return. We will call you to discuss the draft tax return. We often make suggestions, provide advice, answer questions, and request missing information. Review and delivery: When the initial preparation is complete, your return will be reviewed. Tax Return filing authorization: We will contact you with summary details of your tax return. We will provide a tax return for review, along with your Fee Invoice, and e-file authorization forms. You then authorize us to e-file the return by paying your invoice and returning the signed forms. If you prefer to pick up in person, our offices are open Monday- Friday 9 AM to 5 PM, and Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM. Upon receipt of your E-file authorization, we will e-file your returns. We will make available a copy of your return, accessible through our Client Portal.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bill is a Certified Financial Planner practitioner, and graduated with a BBA from Niagara University in 1985. Bill is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in New York State and the State of Florida. He created Canty Financial Management in 1986 and obtained his CPA experience working for the New York State Department of Taxation, the New York State Comptroller, and the New York State Education Department. Bill is Past-Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, and Past-President of the Ballston Spa Rotary.
