FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I bill at a rate of $275 per hour. However, not every case costs the same. I try to give each client a personalized estimate of how many hours they can expect me to work for them, and I always caution that there is no way to know how much a case will ultimately cost. Conflict drives the price, and when there is agreement, my clients pay much less and are pleased when matters resolve that way.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically begin with a consultation, which can take one to two hours, and during which we discuss all the issues relevant to the client's case. I give my thoughts and perspective on each issue, and together we make a plan to move forward. Because this is a working meeting, in which legal action is planned, I do charge for my time. However, my fee is a flat $300, and we meet for as long as we need to for that charge. Clients usually feel a lot better after speaking with me, because they have been able to unburden themselves to me and get some concrete ideas about what to do next.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Juris Doctorate from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. Before that, I worked for about 15 years as a paralegal. In law school I focused on family law, and got as much training and experience as I could. As a student-attorney in the Family Law Clinic, I won the Association of Women Attorney's award for outstanding work in family law for 2010.
