FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am an out-of-network provider- which means, I will provide you with the necessary paperwork to submit to your insurance company so that you may receive reimbursement for my services if your insurance allows for out-of-network providers. On average, insurance companies reimburse at 50-65% for out-of-network services, once you have met your deductible. If you cannot afford ongoing treatment with me, I will do my best to refer you to another mental health clinician or clinic you can afford.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
During my initial consultation, I meet for 60 minutes with individuals and 90 minutes with couples. During this first visit we discuss the issues for which you are seeking help and what led up to these issues. In addition, we review any relevant medical, family, and work history and past treatments. By the end of the consultation, I will provide you with my recommendations for a treatment plan to help you effectively resolve the challenges you are currently facing.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a board-certified psychiatrist, have earned a certificate in psychoanalysis from Columbia University, and have been in psychiatric private practice for 25 years. I completed medical school at Cornell University-Weill Medical College, an internship in internal medicine, a residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in psychotherapy at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in NYC. Given my interest in ongoing education and honing my skills as a psychotherapist, I have had additional training in couples and group psychotherapy.
