FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
General Handyman work (painting, hanging shelves, picture frames, TVs, fixing leaks, assembling furniture, moving furniture, etc) will be billed hourly unless a flat rate is agreed on in advance. Larger renovation jobs (flooring, cabinet installations, wall repair, garden landscaping, etc) will be quoted a flat rate. Full scale contractor work will be budgeted in advance with labor estimates.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. Customer provides the full scope of the work needed with pictures of existing space/damage, etc if relevant. In the case of design work, it is helpful if you provide references for what you wish to achieve but not required. 2. I personally visit in person to review each project and determine whether it is a one-man job or will require several workers. I then project material costs, discuss whether I or the client will provide materials, estimate completion time and confirm project cost. 3. If I believe the job requires more than one or person I will inform the client in advance. If I believe the job can be done more efficiently with more hands, I will give the client that option. If my personal schedule is very heavy, I will assign the project to one of my trusted and equally skilled crew members. I will ensure access is available at a time that is convenient for the client. 4. I will complete your project on time and within budget. 5. I will ensure you are satisfied with the work completed.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I worked with my father in his woodworking shop building furniture and developed a deep appreciation for building things and creating the feeling of "home."
