Introduction: We are a custom hardwood flooring company. We install both engineered and solid hardwood as well as laminate flooring. I am a hardwood flooring inspector and a teacher with 37 years of experience. I am a member of the Better Business Bureau and one of the Super Achievement installation companies for Angie's List. I am one of the National Wood Flooring Association instructors and have authored trade articles. Helping customer achieve their goal of making their home more beautiful, useful, enjoyable - this is something I love. Installed 340 sq ft of laminate flooring in kitchen and mudroom. Did all the trim as well. Had to work across different surfaces (plywood and concrete). In one word: WOW. What a pleasure to work with a company so professional, responsive, and detail-oriented. I am a small-business owner myself and have crazy hours. Nick was thoughtful enough to do the estimate on a Saturday morning so I didn't have to miss work. He was even able to get the job done earlier than originally scheduled - how often does THAT happen?!! The installers did an amazing job from start to finish and yesterday I came home to find a beautiful new kitchen floor that will make a huge difference in terms of enjoying the house now and eventual resale. (By the way the installers did a phenomenal job with clean-up as well. You would never have known they were even there!) I have already referred Nick to a neighbor and will hire him as soon as possible again to replace the family room floor and refinish the porch floor. As a single mom I have to be very careful about my budget. This investment was worth every penny and brought me peace of mind. I made a video of the floor and have sent it to all my friends - that's how proud I am of it!

We were very fortunate to find Nick Motto several years ago when he installed hickory wood flooring in our great room. Then a couple of years later we had him back to install hickory hardwood in the kitchen, breakfast room & laundry room only to want to add it in our dining room & hall way as well. When we sold that house & bought our current home we knew exactly who we wanted to install the wood floors on the entire main level & in the loft. As with the other house, the floors are beautiful. They were installed professionally with wonderful attention to detail. Nick is a master & has taught his team to be as good as he is. Needless to say, I highly recommend Motto Flooring.

We were very pleased with the workmanship and excellent overall quality of the projects. On our first hardwood floor project a couple of years ago, there was a lot of carpentry detail around our steps and fireplace and it looked great. When we decided this summer to add hardwood to the rest of the house, we did not hesitate to call Nick again. Just like the first time, the work was done exactly as promised and the floors look so nice. I have recommended Motto Flooring to personal friends and would definitely use them again myself. Nick and his team installed wood flooring in our entire main level. They were absolutely great to work with! They communicated well and didn't a superb job. Nick made sure everything was done to his high level of expectation. They completed the job quickly and communicated with me well about decisions or issues that came up. This is our 2nd house that we have used Nick Motto and his team to lay hardwoods. They are very skilled and a courteous team. Nick has an eye for details and will point out what would be the best for your house. We had him do the stairs on this house, which they built from the wood rather than using treads making them so they have some traction to surface from joints. He knows his stuff.

Customer's call or email our company to request a quote for installation of new flooring or for sand and finish work on existing hardwood flooring. We will set up a time to come to your home, measure the areas needing work, and go over options that are available.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Nick Motto, owner of Motto's Flooring, Inc., has been working in flooring since 1978. He is a member of the National Wood Flooring Association, an instructor at their wood flooring schools, a certified Wood Flooring Inspector and a member of the Better Business Bureau. He carries certifications for engineered flooring, laminate flooring, ceramic tile, and solid hardwood flooring.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Nick has been installing flooring since 1978. He was trained by master craftsmen and was state certified in California. He has owned his own company and been installing flooring in the St. Louis area since 1993.
