Ethan is fantastic to work with, professional, responsive, kind, friendly, communicative and responsible. He has transformed our front and back yard into a California style english garden with a mix of CA natives, succulents and more. Everyday I come home and smile watching the bees and birds flit around the yard (before and after). I agree with a previous reviewer, Ethan is a landscape artist. I highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to hire him for future landscaping projects.

To put it bluntly, working with Ethan feels like the best combination possible of watching a designer / artist process unfold, being mentored by a humble but talented craftsman, and having a perfect partner-in-crime along the way. We essentially said to him, "Here's our property. Come up with a vision based on a few concepts we have in mind. Tell us how we can help you make it come to life. And let's take this as a multi-year partnership to see what unfolds season to season." Couldn't have been a better choice to give him that 'canvas' to work with. And we continue to love what grows and emerges year to year.

My husband and I live in the South Bay and avoided our overgrown and very dated eyesore of a front/backyard for a few years. I was introduced to Ethan through my brother, they worked together on several design projects (non plant related), and we hired Ethan to design our two spaces and assist with plant selection. Our process was very collaborative, mainly because my husband is very hands on and wanted to be part of the entire process. Ethan came down for a weekend and completely transformed our yard, front and back. He is a delight to work with. The design process was painless. We sat down for an hour and came up with the basic design of the two spaces (based off an initial design he proposed) and the rest of the weekend was spent going to the nursery and planting. We got rid of our grass and replaced with decomposed granite and created several mulch beds with drought resistant plants. I'd say Ethan shines in terms of the visual design. I absolutely love the simplicity and elegance of what he designed for us.

Tough to say, since each project is unique! The design phase is based on a flat fee and the installation is based on an hourly estimate. For a ballpark idea, our total project budgets range from $2,000 to $20,000 including design, installation, materials, and plants.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Best to provide as much information as possible, since each project is unique, we'll work together to figure out the best plan forward!
