- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically I like to chat informally to gain an impression of how developed the concept is. Do specific requirements exist? Perhaps just a rough sketch? This is also a time to understand their vision and goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
With a B.E (Aeronautical) and two M.S (Astronautics & Space Engineering), I've done a tonne of CAD work! More recently, I've designed, tested and manufactured my own products using CAD as a basis. My experience with requirements development comes from 3 years of developing navigation systems for a major military platform.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Initially I used CAD for purely academic applications. But, as I entered the world of product design, I found that there is an amazing amount of creativity to be found in CAD design. Balancing the technical aspects with this creativity turned out to be a great combination for me! Helping others create their visions felt like a natural progression.
