Introduction: I combine exceptional listening skills with my many years of training and working in the mental health field. I view the therapeutic process as an opportunity for growth. Once a person can really share their story with a non-judgemental audience in the form of a therapist, they can usually get some distance from the triggers connected to it. This experience often allows for a person to make new meaning of their past and present, resulting in a calmer and wiser self, and hope for a brighter future. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and a registered art therapist, and I offer the following services: Family Therapy, Marriage Therapy, Individual Therapy, Premarital Counseling, EMDR, Corporate Retreats, Art Therapy and Mediation. I work with individuals, families, couples, adults, and children and am located in the InterUrban ArtHouse, a vibrant arts facility in Downtown Overland Park, Kansas. Transformation, growth, healing and hope are words that come to mind when I think about why I chose this profession. So often, people limit their ability to live the life they truly want due to fears, past trauma, and "stuff" that is holding them back. Therapy is a very safe avenue to slowly unravel and get ahold of this "stuff." Observing the inevitable transformation that takes place when people are willing to risk being vulnerable is beyond rewarding. The "talking cure" is the essence of therapy, but when experiential activities such as simple art directives are included in the process, the ability to connect meaning to difficult to describe emotions enhances the entire experience.
