Thanks, Phaedra! So glad you joined the studio family :)
This has been such a great expirence, not only for our daughter, but for the whole family! Miss Sarah puts together a great plan for the students and she is really involved in their development! I would highly recommend her if you’re looking to get your child(ren) involved in piano.Oct 14, 2017Music on the Brain's reply
Thank you for the kind words! Your daughter is such a joy to work with. I'm glad your family found me on Thumbtack!
Sarah is a fantastic teacher. She is passionate about making sure she finds the best way to teach you based on your skill level and goals. Her tailored curriculum is the best recipe for success in learning piano. I've taken many lessons from other teachers, but none have taught me as effectively and efficiently as Sarah and her studio. In only a few months, I exceeded my own expectations as a beginner student and I feel confident in the skills and techniques I learned. I would highly recommend her studio to any beginner or advanced student, young and adult!May 24, 2017Music on the Brain's reply
Thank you, Melissa! I enjoy seeing you every week, and being a part of your musical development. I look forward to diving deeper into improvisation in the near future!
Sarah is very good with the kids and tailors lessons to their needs and their interests. She is very creative and thorough in her teaching methods, so not only do they learn how to do it, but why. We have had lessons with other instructors before, and my kids have learned more (and enjoyed it more) in their time with her than they ever have before.Oct 18, 2016

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Tuition is factored for the Studio Year and divided into 12 monthly installments (August 2017 through July 2018.) The tuition covers 41 billable individual and group lessons plus individualized plans for each student’s course of study, development of teaching materials and supplemental curricula, continuing education/ professional development, event planning, and written progress reports for each student (upon request or conference). The monthly tuition does not relate to a certain number of lessons per month -- it is merely the yearly tuition broken up for your convenience. Most months have four lessons, some more or less. Contact the studio for the 2017-2018 Monthly Tuition Schedule.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Potential students are invited to visit the studio for a free tour and consultation (with a parent, in the case of youth students.) We chat about the student's goals, parents' goals, and my approach to teaching. There is plenty of time to ask questions and share concerns. If time permits, I try to squeeze in a "mini lesson" or game so the student can get some hands-on experience in the studio.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have over 20 years’ experience in the music industry. I received my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Music Education from Bethany College, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I have also participated in master classes with and received individual instruction from Alexander Technique author and teacher Barbara Conable, studying the practical applications of Body Mapping to making music and preventing injury. My background includes not only teaching and conducting, but also performing both as a soloist and as a member of many small and large ensembles performing locally, throughout the US, and in many parts of Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.) Currently, I am a member of the Kansas City Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association.
