FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My emphasis is on collaborating with customers. I have my own training philosophies that I personally use, but fitness is not a "one size fits all" approach. Consultation is an important step when working with customers, and it lays the groundwork for success. Previous exercise history, diet, medical conditions, and favorite activities are all important factors in determining the right approach. From there, we can work together and implement a plan to achieve the results you are looking for.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently certified by the ACSM as a personal trainer. I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh for athletic training, which requires a clinical education component in addition to the standard coursework. I have worked with La Roche College athletics, the Pitt wrestling team, and the Pitt football team. I will be working with Central Catholic football in the fall.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look to a provider's education. The fitness industry in particular is notorious for having plenty of false information out there. With the modern age of technology, everyone (both qualified and unqualified) has the opportunity to spread their message. Pay close attention to a provider's education and qualifications, because that will identify the reputable people that you want to be working with. Besides education, passion should be an important quality to look for as well. A lot of personal trainers these days are looking to put in the bare minimum and receive their paycheck. Those who are truly invested in your success are the ones that will go the extra mile to ensure you get the kind of treatment and the kind of results you are looking for.
