- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I recently relocated to Virginia, after graduating from UVA (go Hoos!), then living a number of different places the last 10 years. I am thrilled to be back, and am building my portfolio locally. Currently I am offering a discounted rate for 2018 brides and couples as I build my Virginia client base. Packages for weddings start at $800 and include an engagement session. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My primary goal is to get to know YOU- what your desires (and fears!) are for your images. I want you to be at ease and know you are in good hands. There are so many things to think about when planning a wedding, worrying about your photographer shouldn't be one of them. Once you express a desire for more information or to book with Lindsay File Photography, I will send you a questionnaire and a pricing guide. These help me to start to learn who you are, and vice versa. If you would like to move forward from there, we will set up an in-person or Skype meeting to discuss details. Once you decide to book, I will send you a contract and an invoice for a deposit, which secures your date(s).
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I actually got my start in food photography (and still take on food and small business commissions). I was working for a small farm that needed new marketing so we created and styled many images that showcased their product. From there, I began to shoot families, especially mini sessions for Christmas cards, and realized how much I love interacting with people and helping them feel comfortable in front of the camera. Expanding to engagements and weddings was a natural outworking of helping to create images and capture emotions of people's most important days.
