Unfortunately we had very high hopes as our initial conversations with Kris went well. But in the end this DJ service was by far the worst vendor we worked with. I would not recommend this service to anyone.
To start, the Kris arrived an hour early to set up and get situated -- this was great, but unfortunately the equipment sound wasn't tested until 5-10 minutes before he ceremony started and he ran into some sort of complication where the sound wasn't working. Because of this the ceremony was delayed by 20 mins.
Then, once the ceremony started, he played the wrong song for the groom and groomsmen walking out -- this is despite the fact that the venue coordinators outlined the run of show for that day, including what songs should be playing and when.
Then during the vows he had a technical glitch and a kid burst of music played before he quickly shut off the sound.
Right after the ceremony we had a cocktail hour, during which we were taking family photos and bridal party photos. During his time Kris walked up to my husband (the groom) and asked for payment in front of our families and photographer, stating that he must be paid right then and there and that he could not wait for us to finish taking photos. Prior to the wedding we agreed to pay him on the day of, but we did not discuss anything about specific timing etc. and he chose a horrible moment to do something like that. My husband politely walked away grabbed the cash and paid him.
In addition, he announced our first dance but then played the wrong song 3 times and announced to the crowd that the first dance was on hold bc he didn't have the right music. He then started playing our actual song without announcing true first dance and no one knew it was happening.
Aside from these critical moments that DJ Kris, quite frankly, messed up, throughout the dinner and dancing he failed to follow the detailed timeline our venue door inflators put together. Therefore announcements and transitions were not appropriately communicated to guests. For example, instead of letting my husband and I say our thank you speech where we would also announce dancing, dessert and the photo booth inside, DJ Kris randomly made an announcement that dinner was over and dancing was about to happen. This confused everybody and half of our guests missed our thank you, etc.
Finally, in our intro conversations we agreed to provide Kris with a list of sample songs, so he could get an idea of our music taste and build a playlist from the list we shared for the wedding. He literally only played music from the list we created and then from people's requests. But before he got requests, DJ kris replayed several songs throughout dinner and then again when open dancing started. He even played our first dance song during the reception dinner.
Overall Kris seems like a nice person, but I would never recommend anyone use his DJ services.
