FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Each event is unique and I strive to keep my pricing as competitive as possible. Quotes depend on a number of factors, including day of the week, location, time and length of event, amount of sound and lighting needed, etc. I honor a 5% discount to all active military and 1st responders. All quotes include DJ/MC services, professional sound & dance floor lighting, wireless mics, your choice in music, COVID-compliant remote song request app, extra time for setup/takedown, credit card fees, liability insurance, and travel (if located within 70 miles of central San Diego).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically begin by speaking with new clients by phone so we can discuss the event, music, and location, and I can answer any questions they may have. There is a refundable 50% deposit to reserve a date and both the e-agreement and invoice can be completed online. Once the date is reserved, I send clients an information packet including sample timelines, sample Spotify playlists for any special songs, all pertinent insurance and business documentation for the venue, and an event questionnaire reviewing all important information, including the order of events. Then we set up a final call or meeting before the event to answer any final questions and go over any last-minute details.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have twenty years of experience as a professional DJ, working thousands of events including weddings, corporate events, club nights, radio programs, festivals, etc. I have had a number of DJ Residencies at lounges, clubs, restaurants, and event spaces (I have included flyers and images in the photo section of my profile). In addition to my experience as a DJ, I am classically trained in music and hold a Master's Degree in GLS with a concentration in Ethnomusicology/ Music History from Duke University. I also served as a Conference/Event Planner at Duke University for the annual "Across The Threshold" Music and Art Conference Series, was Co-Planner of the annual Mosaic Spring & Fall Music Festivals, and Owner/Head DJ of my own award-winning lounge and private event space (Mosaic Lounge) for 5 years. My extensive background in DJing, Event Planning, and Venue ownership has given me a comprehensive understanding of how to work well with venues, planners, and other vendors, and what my clients need and expect throughout both the planning process and at the event itself.
