FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Illustration costs will vary depending on the complexity of the illustration, whether it is digital or analog, and the amount of time available to compete the project. An illustrated portrait, for example, can range between $200-$300. Logo costs will range between $125-$225, depending on the complexity and the number of revisions necessary to satisfy the client's requests. I allow two rounds of edits upon completion; any additional request for revision after that will cost $100 per round. The cost for printed pieces (posters, flyers, brochures etc.) will vary depending on the request.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically I begin with an email inquiring about the work or project the client is requesting. I'll usually ask about timelines, creative direction, and budget. Once those things are squared away l begin with a set of initial concepts/sketches. If I'm designing a logo, for example, the client will then choose three from the set. I then digitally explore those ideas further, incorporate color palettes and type (font) treatments, and send those off. I allow only two rounds of edits –anything additional will cost extra. For illustrations a phone call with the client is usually necessary in addition to an email, depending on the complexity of the request. Upon finishing concepts/sketches, the client can only choose one from the set for me to explore further. For digital illustrations I provide three rounds of edits upon completion.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've a BS of Graphic Design from the Art Institute of California in San Diego.
