Some of my specialized certifications come from the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute, and the Strozzi Institute—a premier training organization in embodied leadership, somatic life coaching, and cultivation of the whole self. I am also a licensed massage practitioner from the Body Therapy Institute, and a Reiki II practitioner, and I integrate energy medicine, spiritual guidance, conflict resolution, rituals, and life coaching in my healing practice with individuals, couples and families. And I am also an ordained minister from the Universal Life Church, and a public speaking coach/workshop facilitator for Belmont's "Yes! You Can Speak" public speaking training program with Master Coach Lynn Kirkham.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Through my own healing journey with body pain, shame and blame, to anxiety from car accidents, self-expression and emotional abuse, to finding ways to connect, forgive and empower, I can't help but be a stand, a voice, a facilitator, and a channel to help others on their journey with their relationships with "drama, trauma, and dharma." I have been a natural peace-maker and facilitator of energy most of my life. No matter how corporate and traditional my job was, people would tell me how safe, open and inspired they felt with me to share their most intimate, shutdown, forgotten, painful or taboo stories and challenges. I quickly caught on how at ease they felt around me, and how much better they felt because they felt safe to feel what they needed to feel, and express themselves in ways they didn't know they bottled up--making them stressed and sick. Watching them wake up, let go and lighten up continues to be the secret sauce that inspires me to do the work I do. In my own transformative journey, I discovered the healing world of embodiment (embodying what I know"), beginning with sacred belly dance, and then later trauma healing with somatic experiencing. Somatic experiencing and leadership coaching opened up a whole new world and field of work for me about our ability to manage mental-emotional stress, overwhelm, flow, energy, clarity, and self-expression. I was able to connect the dots of the nervous system's relationship to beliefs, self-worth, self-expression, confidence, being seen, and our coping mechanisms, such as: fight, flight, freeze or numbing out. Since then, somatic practices has been "pathway" to help myself and others digest difficult and metabolize memories, experiences, and cultivate new ways of being, communicating, giving and receiving.
