Introduction: I have been fascinated with the moving body my entire life. After graduating high school from the UNC School of the Arts, then receiving her BFA in Dance/Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University while performing in local companies, I set off for New York City to pursue my professional dance career. Looking for a way to balance my life, I began a yoga practice at OM Yoga Center, and my priorities almost instantly shifted- not long after starting my practice there, I completed a 200-hour training with the founder, Cyndi Lee. After relocating to the West Coast, I finished an additional 300-hour training at the Santa Barbara Yoga Center, while developing an approach to teaching that focuses on Kinesiology, alignment and breath awareness. Her slight obsession with anatomy and body mechanics brought her to Pilates and I am currently an apprentice Pilates teacher through the 500-hour Pilates Sport Center program. My sessions blend the meditative and awareness practices of Yoga with the targeted and articulate movements of Pilates tailored for each client. I focus on helping my clients regain freedom in their bodies through finding a more complete range of motion while creating pain free movement patterns that are applicable to life outside the studio. I specialize in injury recovery and movement designed for pre- and post-natal mamas (and I am currently pregnant with her 1st child!) I am also a second level Reiki practitioner. Simply put, I am passionate about how the human body moves and getting it to move freely! My teaching is focused mainly on essential alignment, efficient movement and proper breathing, and how the work can be translated into real life. I consider myself an anatomy nerd, and approach teaching from a deep skeletal and muscular awareness. My aim is to help my students unwind habitual movement patterns so they can find alignment in their physical bodies- as well as in their body-mind connection- with the hopes of reducing pain and creating a greater sense of well being in all areas of life. I have successfully worked with all age groups from teenagers to seniors in their 70s. I love working with beginners, folks with injuries/limitiations or anyone who thinks that Yoga or Pilates isn't for them, as well as advanced practitioners looking for a fresh way to approach their practice.

Megan is a fantastic teacher. She is extremely knowledgable, and well versed in a wide variety of topics. Meghan is particularly great at working with her students to make make modifications to things, in order to address their particular weaknesses or issues.

Megan is an amazing yoga teacher. She showed me yoga can be for everyone of all skill levels. Her overall approach is non-aggressive yet very educational about the human body. Personally, it's also an eye opening experience to practice yoga outside of a regular studio. Overall it's huge stress reliever and complete physical and metal makeover every time I practice yoga with Megan.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

For private clients that come to my location, I offer introductory session or package pricing of $50 for one session and $150 for 3 sessions. After that sessions cost $75 for 1, $350 for 5, or $650 for $10

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

At the beginning of the 1st session, I spend time with my my client finding out their goals, experience and health history. I also "read" their bodies to see where their structure and alignment is. Then, depending on previous experience, we move through foundational concepts of the practice to asses the path of the work moving forward.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have over 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training, through OM Yoga and Santa Barbara Yoga Center and am almost finished with a 500 hour Pilates Teacher Training, through Pilates Sport Center. Additionally, I have a daily personal practice of Yoga and/or Pilates, depending on the day and how my body feels :)
