- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I recently spun this off my Roadmap Resume profile, so I do have good references and reviews, they're mixed in with my resume reviews. My editing fees are competitive for the industry. Depending upon the length of the manuscript, I charge per page or per word (the latter can become more affordable if the manuscript is long).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I want to be sure the customer understands the differences between the various types of editing. In decreasing order of expense, they are Developmental; Line or Copy Editing; and proofreading.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?A BA in Journalism and English, and a Certificate in Copy Editing from a local university. I have also managed to use my proofreading and editing skills in many different ways during my several decades in the work place, so my skills have stayed sharp. My spelling, grammar and punctuation skills are very high and I am very proficient with Chicago Manual of Style, the AP Style book, and Turabian's Manual for Writers. Professional memberships include the Pacific Northwest Editors Guild and the Editorial Freelances Association.
