We met Melinda as our second training class trainer. We had been through puppy training class and were looking for a more advanced class for our second class. Melinda scheduled a meet and greet with my dog and I. She wanted to get to know us, review what we had learned, where we were struggling and what our goal for this training class should be. When we began our training class, I was frustrated with my 1 year old puppy and his listening skills. He seemed to have stopped listening to his basic commands and I didn't understand how to get him to listen again. She structured our training class to meet our needs. We met for 6 weeks. Each week she would teach me a skill to teach and work with my dog. She taught me how to read and work with my dog's personality. When one technique wasn't working, she taught me how to use a different technique. By the end of the six weeks, I was able to recognize when my dog was stressed and when he was ready to learn. For the end of the class, she asked me to teach my dog a new trick. I wasn't sure what to teach him, so she suggested simple trick with a twist. I had a lot of fun teaching him this trick and he learned it in about a day or two, so I found and began teaching him a more difficult trick. Melinda guided me while I was teaching him these new tricks. It was very rewarding for both my dog and myself!
I would encourage anybody to hire Melinda as their trainer. She not only works with your dog, but she's training you as well. She was able to teach me how to have a better, less frustrating, loving relationship with my dog. After training with Melinda, the training goals that I thought were unreachable became very attainable! Helping you to train your dog is not only Melinda's career, but it's also her passion.
