Introduction: A.Lorae Photography specializes in wedding and engagement photography in the Seattle/Tacoma area. We are also available for destination weddings. We love photographing all couples, so LGBT couples, please feel comfortable contacting us. While weddings are our specialty, we also provide a wide range of photography services from family photos to corporate head shots. We provide excellent customer service and quick turn around. We love people and we love photography. What this means for our customers is that we genuinely enjoy working with you to get exactly what you want. I have worked with Amy on both a vendor and client level. Her work is outstanding, and I cannot recommend her enough! I had the opportunity to first see her in action at a mutual client's wedding. Her attention to detail and care for each person she was shooting with really shows her love and passion for the craft. The finished photos were absolutely stunning. On a side note- one of the things that I struggle with at weddings is having to work around other vendors. With Amy, it's almost as if she isn't there. She gets the best shots, without you evening knowing she's taking them. A true skill in the industry. I've also had her personally come out and shoot for me at a few upscale private dining pop-up events. Food photography is so very different from wedding, and she didn't disappoint. I'm so proud to have the bulk of our professional portfolio filled with her work. Not only is she talented, but she is very personable. When you hire a photographer, you'll be working pretty closely with them... She makes you feel comfortable and is incredibly friendly, while remaining very professional. I recommend her to all of my clients, as well as anyone I know who needs a photographer. I look forward to working with her again on more projects in the future!

In 2015 A. Lorae Photography was referred to me by a friend and coworker. She told me that her daughter in law "takes photos," and that I should contact her... lets be honest, these days, it seems like pretty much everyone has an expensive camera, a facebook page, and calls themselves a photographer so I took it with a grain of salt. Then I actually looked at Amy's portfolio and was immediately struck by her amazing eye and unique style. My husband and I met with Amy and were all the more sold. Amy has an amazingly calming personality that helps put you at ease about your wedding day. She knows all the right questions to ask to get you thinking about your shot list and even gave us pointers on general wedding planning because we were so lost in the process. Amy and her second shooter for our wedding, Jill, spent the entire day at our wedding capturing all the moments we knew we wanted and some unique shots we didn't even think of! It honestly felt like having two extra friends around. They even helped clean the green horse slobber out of my off white dress before the ceremony. ;) After the wedding, the photos came back (way sooner than I thought they would, as an aside) and they were more amazing than I ever could have imagined! They were literally perfect. Everything I ever dreamed of and then some. A. Lorae Photography is very reasonably priced for their skill set. Photos are something you do not want to "skimp" on when it comes to your wedding. The day will go by faster than you can imagine, but the photos will last forever. I am so happy I chose to go with A. Lorae Photography; I would (and do) recommend her to everyone and anyone to perfectly capture their wedding day.

I highly recommend working with A. Lorae Photography. Amy photographed my wedding and I could not be happier with the photos. When I look at them I feel all of the emotions from that day. What more could you ask for? Working with her was seamless. She planned things out ahead of time (even visited the wedding venue with me) and paid attention to what my husband and I were looking for. She had great advice and suggestions for us about so many things. I can't (and don't want to) imagine what our wedding would have been like if we'd had a different photographer. An added bonus is that after you work with Amy you will want to be her friend, because she is such a great person!

My partner Lucas and I planned our wedding in a week so we were lucky that Amy was available. She had done a full day of shooting the day before until late--but still arrived so fresh that August morning. The ceremony was done in the woods in some otherworldly filtered light. It’s that kind of light that is so beautiful but you know it really can’t be captured. Somehow she did! She also captured the mood and spirit of our unique little troop (8 attendees including us and our 18 mo. old son) in a way that looked regal but honest. I was really nervous but somehow Amy's shots made that a beautiful part of the story. She has a way of shooting that’s unobtrusive so there was an intimacy to our vows that is preserved in the images. This sensitivity to the moment is a great gift that Amy has. It helps her get the right shot. I would recommend Amy as a photographer to anyone without reservation.

I met Amy at an LGBTQ wedding show and we just clicked. So when it came time for the Save the Date pictures, I convinced Bonnie that we should have Amy take them. We were traveling through Seattle at Christmas-time, as we live in Alaska, and Amy accommodated our travel schedule to meet us on short notice. She did an amazing job and we knew we wanted her to do our wedding. Amy was willing to travel to Alaska and we were thrilled. She arrived and was very attentive in seeing everything beforehand to get an idea of pictures she wanted to take. On the day of the wedding, she helped keep things moving and helped us with things that we would have never thought of. She really paid attention to every detail and worked well with everyone. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes. My pricing is published on the website and varies by the length of the shoot, processing time, and travel, typically. If my prices change that is reflected on the website. No surprises. I stick to our contract.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically contact starts with an email or a phone call. A phone call makes it easier to connect but shoots are definitely set up over email from time to time. If you are looking for wedding photography we typically have a meeting to talk about what your wedding and what kind of photography you would like. There is no obligation at that meeting, just a chance for us to meet and talk about your big day. After that I draw up a contract, send it to you for review, and make any necessary adjustments. Once I get the deposit from you along with the signed contract the date is held for you. A scaled down process of that takes place for all other shoots.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been taking photos since I was in 7th grade which is quite a ways back in time. Once I figured out how to use an SLR I was off and running. Self-taught, I started doing professional photography for non-profit organizations and slowly moved into portrait work. In 2014 I officially started A.Lorae Photography and have loved working with our clients! I do a lot of experimenting to hone my skills and learn new tricks when off the clock. You can always learn new things.
