FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I generally price my work based on an hourly wage and depending on the size and complexity of the project. I tend to work fairly quickly - my longest mural commission was around 10 hours, and my longest painting commission was around 6 hours. Because I have to take into account gas and the wear and tear of my vehicle, traveling more than 30 miles from my home will incur a fee.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Generally, my work flow is made of up of three phases: the design phase, the planning phase, and the painting phase. I require a deposit before I purchase materials and schedule the painting session. First, we will work together to sketch and flesh out the design you want. Then, I will email you a detailed estimate - complete with materials lists and cost breakdowns so you know what I am spending your money on. Along with the estimate, we will work out your appointment date(s)/time(s). I will also send you an invoice for the deposit amount (roughly half of the full estimate). Payment of this deposit locks in your date(s)/time(s). Painting time! I will have instructions for how to care for your wall immediately after it's been worked on, if necessary (leave windows open, do not touch for 24 hours, etc). After that, all that's left is to enjoy!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was never an art student - I did not attend art school, nor received any sort of degree in art. My degree is in computer engineering, from USF. HOWEVER, art is my passion. I greatly enjoy working on pieces, regardless of whether they are personal projects or for clients. I take pride in each and every mural, illustration, or painting I create. I learn every chance I get, from anyone I can - I believe that you do not need to be a formal student to learn things of value, especially in the art world. I do a great deal of research into every type of art supply, paint, etc I use, and I choose my materials carefully to ensure that the work I do is of the best quality possible.
