The family unit is society’s oldest and most resilient institution. From the beginning of human life, people have grouped themselves into families to find emotional, physical and collective support. Despite family structures varying around the world, Nicole believes that the family unit is one of the most undervalued social forces of the 21st Century. The family unit is the foundation – shaping our core beliefs and giving us the endurance to face life’s challenges. To better understand the impact that family has on an individual, Nicole focused her work on gaining clinical experience with different facets of the family unit. Working with children and teenagers in a school based therapeutic setting, Nicole has clinical experience supporting those with issues of self-esteem, anxiety, depression, anger management, trauma, and family dynamics. Nicole continued her work with children and families specifically struggling with the impact of trauma, abuse, disorganized attachment, parenting, and emotional regulation. Nicole received specialized training working with foster families, adoptive families and kinship caretakers in a family service agency. With the family unit as the forefront, Nicole’s passion begins with the couple in premarital and marital counseling. Nicole draws from emotional focused therapy and Gottman’s method to work with couples presenting with issues of intimacy, infidelity, depression, trauma, emotional intelligence, trust and commitment.
