Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: We are a small tutoring firm that strives to help students learn enthusiastically and efficiently. After many years of tutoring, we’ve decided to create a company that would provide the optimal teaching experience for both students and tutors. Most tutoring companies are essentially matchmakers between tutors and students. Tutors come in for an interview, and then get a call if and when the agency finds them students. The tutors do not communicate with each other and the agency offers them no support or resources. Our firm works differently: we don’t believe that having an educational background is the sole indicator of tutor qualification. We choose tutors based on whether they can teach in a manner that would promote critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability. In addition to choosing the right people, we help tutors keep sharp by reviewing together, sharing teaching strategies, and providing materials. This synergy allows us to pool our knowledge and skills, and thus helps us offer the best-possible learning experience. It is rewarding to help a kid realize that they can succeed, even in subjects with which they previously did poorly.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated from University Of Southern California in 2010 and began tutoring a couple years after that. I gained experience tutoring and instructing students from first grade to high school, working as a part of tutoring firms and summer programs. In late 2013, I began getting students on my own, and have helped dozens of students as an independent tutor since.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Years ago, my old friend and tutoring associate, Edward Rhee, suggested that I try my hand at private tutoring, something that he had been doing on and off for years at that point. We have since worked as instructors either for another tutoring company or on our own, and last year, decided to get a business name and start a small company.
