Introduction: Over the course of my 12-year professional career, I've had the opportunity to perform a variety of job functions in the positions I've held. Because of this, I have proficient experience as a writer, editor, content strategist, and QA tester with specialized focus on Web content, SEO and UX testing. After graduating from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, with a bachelor’s degree in English and minor in Creative Writing, I worked as a newspaper editor before starting my career in medical publishing. When I first started in this field, I worked as an editor for several peer-viewed journals that covered topics such as continuing nursing education, occupational health nursing, athletic training, and knee surgery. From there, I was promoted to a position more focused on project management and writing. I then was hired at a company that created instructional materials for companies in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries and worked as an editor and quality assurance tester. After nearly 7 years in the medical publishing field, I made the switch to the wild world of advertising and digital marketing, where I learned about writing for SEO, understanding the importance of proper UX design, and creating compelling content strategy. Discovering the online aspect of content creation opened a new world of possibilities for me, and there's been no looking back. I am active in several Philly Meetup Groups, and participate in American Marketing Association events. I've also been an active member of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) conference for many years, which has included first authorship of a poster presentation on collaborative editing, co-presenting on a presentation that helped freelancers create more efficient template structures, and most recently, speaking with my business partner on the benefits SEO optimization in medical writing. I'm well versed in different style guides, including APA, AMA, and Chicago, and have extensive experience with content creation based on SEO keyword integration. I really love helping people realize the true vision of their project by helping them with their writing, editing, or content optimization needs. I'm pretty casual and conversational in my approach with clients, and like to get to know a little bit about the person and what they're trying to achieve with their project to make sure I deliver exactly what they're looking for.
