FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For commercial photography, I charge $40/ hour. Typically, a shoot can take anywhere from one to five hours, and the editing anywhere from 10 hours to 20. I do all the editing myself. Headshots depend completely on the number of wardrobe changes the client would like and the number of shots they would like. I don't provide hair or makeup and do all retouching myself in Photoshop. If you're interested in fine art or nature photography and have an idea you'd like executed, we can discuss.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First getting to know them outside of what they want from the shots, and telling them a bit about my story. The more we feel comfortable with one another, the easier it will be to collaborate, bring ideas out of one another, and ultimately get the shots they may never have know they wanted in the first place.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I just returned from LA after living there for 15 years. I started there as an actor, but realized I enjoyed photographing actors more. I branched out into fine art, nature and commercial photography, which became my main focus. I ended up being mentored by Nikon Ambassador Vincent Versace the year before I returned to Winston-Salem. Now that I'm back, I recognize the market for headshots and portraiture is a world away from what it was in 1999, so I'm beginning to shoot them again. As an actor all my life til the age of 25, I worked with a lot of photographers, so I know what it's like to be on that side of the lens. I enjoy getting to know someone, finding out what they really want to capture in the shots, then working together until we get it.
