Introduction: “You get transported to some wild & wonderful musical places when DJ Kim Faith gets on the decks.” Kim is the real deal L.A. Valley Girl who rolled deep in the music scene from the start. She took the bus to Sunset Strip for Rock shows and went to house parties everywhere from South Central to San Fernando to hear the latest rappers and Hip Hop. Her crew hit all the L.A. underground clubs with DJ’s playing mixes of reggae, funk, new wave, punk, R & B, rock and country that still influence her selects today. At the same time she was seeing seminal bands from the very start that blew up to become megastars. Kim moved to NYC when house music was blowing up but she spent as much time with the club kids as she did on the hardcore scene. Kim was there, many times, in that moment when magic was happening and she has some iconic stories to show for it. She’s been behind the scenes and friends with the bands, as well as many artists and influencers over the years. She’s partied with the best of them and she knows what music moves people, and even deeper than that, what music inspires the people that inspire us. While music has always been the life force for Kim, her work has mostly in fashion and film. She was a Product Development manager for major lingerie companies, but ended her corporate career after doing time at Calvin Klein. She began doing wardrobe on Indy films in New York before moving back to L.A. where she Costume Designed for movies and TV and began styling bands and music videos. Then in one synchronistic moment, some necklaces she made got featured in Glamour magazine and quickly became coveted by A-listers and top local boutiques. Kim followed that up with a full line “Kimberly Faith” jewelry that became a favorite of celebs, press and major stores around the world for years to come She was living in Silverlake at the time, and after one of her infamous dance parties, a musician friend invited her to spin records at the Good Luck bar. Kim got on the decks and never looked back. She has a talent for effortlessly moving through a wide range of genres and playing a great mix of forgotten favorites, deep cuts and fresh new tracks, and the crowds loved it. Kim continued DJing for local bars and parties until one infamous Sunset Junction Street Festival when her vinyl collection got destroyed after her killer set. Kim continues to design and style, and when she moved to the Joshua Tree she opened a shop called TreeBird and started DJing again. DJ Kim Faith is one of the deserts favorite DJ’s for dance nights, weddings and special events because you are guaranteed a good time when she gets on the decks. She loves to dance and that energy is infectious. Give her the reins and she’ll spin her special blend of world, electronic, reggae, rock, country, hip hop and R & B, but point her in another direction and she can get really deep into just one of those genres. Her love and knowledge of music are evident, but it’s her good vibes that transcend and take every event to that special place. And, of course, that famous smile makes every note sound just a little bit sweeter.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I try to keep my rates competitive and fair and I'm happy to work with people to get their dream event at a price they can afford. I live in a remote location so I expect to travel -- though I love working in the hight desert! And I own my tight lil rig with amazing sound, but we can build from there depending on your needs. Feel free to contact me about fundraisers, I'm happy to help for the right cause.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I think it's super important to really communicate with customers about what their vision is, expectations, who's going to be there, etc etc ... as well as how we work and what we bring and need. I always have my own playlists to pull from but I want to know what you want to hear and I keep the lines of communication open to throughout the process. I can't stress enough that I'm there to make your event awesome!
