FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I work from home, which saves you money. (Because you're not paying for me to sit in a fancy office, with interns who get me coffee, or whatever.) My standard hourly rate is $40 per hour, which is less than half of what most professional web designers charge. I've been known to offer non-profits and entrepreneurs even lower prices. I do this because I like to help people who help people, and I've "been there" respectively. Let me know if your budget is an issue, and I'll do everything I can to "make it work."
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After I get to know you (and your business) a bit, we'll establish some goals, and target dates. I'll use that information to create an estimate. For most sites, I charge a 50% deposit, based on that estimate. I do not believe in "flat rate" billing. In my experience one party always gets the shorter end of the stick. Instead, I will track my hours and provide you with a "second invoice" when your site is finished. This invoice will reflect the total cost (with the deposit subtracted.) For especially large projects, I can send weekly invoices. For small projects, please know that I enforce a "two hour minimum" policy.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Twelve years of blood, sweat, and tears. Also, this has been my "main gig" for about five years. Look me up on LinkedIN if you'd like to learn more about me, and my qualifications.
