I was asked to pose for hair magazine ad and I was introduced to Ms. Staples who was doing the make up for the shoot. Sometimes the process of getting your make up done can be awkward because there is a stranger very close, touching you with no verbal communication. Ms. Staples was very kind and down to earth, introducing herself and explaining the process while asking me about my skin type and offering helpful tips as to how I could get the most out of my own make up later in at home applications. She is truly an artist and you are her canvas... when you see the variety of supplies, colors, brushes, etc. you know, you are dealing with a professional. When I saw myself once she finished, I was awestruck... I have never felt more beautiful than I did that day. She tirelessly worked on about 12 ladies (this shoot was an all day process) we all looked absolutely radiant! If I could describe my mood and confidence after her process I would say I felt like my name was Beyonce-Tyra-Minaj! When asked who is the best make up artist I have worked with the only recommendation I give is Cyd Staples. She is #amazing !!!

Cyd did my makeup along with my two sisters for the Baachus Ball. Each of our dresses were very different. She took that into account with our makeup. We all had different looks that went perfectly with the vibe we were each going for. She was also funny and energetic! She made me look like old hollywood glamourous movie star!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices to vary depending on the event, travel time, and how much advanced notice I'm given, but for bridal parties I do have a standard contract.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually begin with a consultation to gather information about the client's event, their skin type, and how they usually like to wear their makeup. I'll also look at any reference pictures they may have.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from the Aveda Institute with a focus in esthetics and I've worked side by side with some of the top makeup artist in the New Orleans area, including Kisha Williams of The Makeup Lab. I've also attended The Makeup Show in New York and Dallas as well the Artist Summit in 2013, all of which are events hosted by The Powder Group.
