Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

This was my first experience using Thumbtack and I was a bit apprehensive as to how everything would turn out, to be honest I was worried that the person we hired would not show up. I had 18 guests and wanted to have a chef that would teach us about cooking while he cooked a meal for us. Chef TJ reached out to me and was very timely with responses. We discussed food allergies and menu ideas and came up with a three course meal we felt would be fun to learn about and be good and met a couple of our favorite tastes. He offered to purchase all the ingredients and would just bill me when he arrived. I had a couple of the ingredients so we discussed the outstanding items and he was able to pick those up. He arrived with his wife/assistant at the time he said he would which gave him enough time to setup and get the feel for my kitchen. He asked me to give him a 15 minute warning as to when we were ready to begin. I liked that he was aware of the time and willing to accommodate a later start time then originally discussed but we stuck to the original start time. He was very clear and direct - with a group of 18 people I was worried it would be difficult to maintain attention while also being heard. He was clearly a professional and this was not his first time giving instructions - or at least it wasn't apparent. They plated and served the food and passed them out to the guests and Katherine, his wife/assistant was assisting with that while also cleaning and washing the dishes as they cooked. At the end of the night they left the kitchen - probably cleaner than they found it. I was very pleased as were all of our guests. I would definitely recommend him to our friends and I would definitely hire him again.
