James did an excellent job installing my 6" x 24" Porcelain plank tile. He was very precise and made very cut perfect. He not only offered a fair price but went above and beyond. Will definitely use him again for my back splash project

This is exactly what I requested: The floor area to be done in the kitchen is about 8x10 and the front door area is 6x8, the tiles I have chosen are ceramic 17". There aren't any tricky cuts or complicated sections. James states he services the Buckeye area, and that he charges $2 per sq ft, but this was his response: "I will charge $500 for floors due to location and the job being small. If I was installing the counters the price would be less. Because the job normal would pay $260, my drive to and from for a few days would cost a bit in gas( I drive a large diesel truck) and purchasing material, would cut my profits down to under $100." I understand people need to make money, BUT DON'T ADVERTISE A PRICE AND LOCATION AND THEN WANT MORE!
MCC Flooring's reply
Hello Tami, I apologize that my email has been upsetting. My overall charge changed due to the change in the request. My initial bid was for 501-1000 sq ft of tile flooring, possibly Travertine. I submitted my request with my base prices and waited for a response. I then received a private email through my business about two weeks later, asking for a price on floors and counter tops. You explained that there has been other tile installers that came out to your home for an estimate and once there the prices changed and you needed a firm price. I then sent the bid for the counter tops and when I received a message back stating that you will be using granite slabs (which I can not install), the bid must change due to the work no longer being done. I would have been able to explain in more detail if I was able to come to your home and give you an in person estimate. The initial message was for flooring that was 501-1000 sq ft of floors, so when I received the measurements of the floors equalling less than 150 sq ft and I was no longer installing the counters my price had to change. If the materials purchased and fuel are more than the profit the job is not worth doing. I have done many jobs much further, so location was not an issue. I have always stood by my prices and have been doing this for 15+ years. I was under the impression that I was installing 501-1000 sq ft of tile because thats what the Thumbtack request stated. If I knew the amount was less than 150 sq ft I would not have placed a bid. I did eventually receive an email with the measurements of the kitchen and entry, which were much less than the original request. I then emailed you back my response, listed in your review, with a firm price as you requested. I am sorry I could not obtain your business and wish you the best of luck.

I hired James to install a backsplash in my kitchen and he did an amazing job! The result is extremely professional and totally changed the look of my kitchen! He was knowledgeable, courteous, friendly, respectful, and a pleasure to have in my home. His cleanup was impeccable, and left everything cleaner than it was when he arrived. Thanks, James - I'd hire you again in a heartbeat!!!
