FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. As an educator I am in constant conversation with colleagues in the field, reading articles and discussing different methods and approaches to music. As a professional singer, I study history, poetry, and languages to advance my understanding of the music I perform.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I loved music as a kid - I was always singing and making up my own songs. When it came time to pick a major in college, music was an obvious choice. I began with a major in music education, but was inspired to add a focus in vocal performance when I watched a production of Handels opera Giulio Cesare. I was so moved by the music and the storytelling that I knew I had to do that.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Private voice and piano lessons usually run between 30-60 minutes. In addition, I offer classes/tutoring in music theory, ear training and piano proficiency at the high school and college levels. I also perform concerts in churches, local retirement communities, and participate in local operas and young artist programs.
