Peanut Butter Waffles Academy

Introduction: How does your kiddo learn? By listening? By doing? By seeing? A combination of both? What makes them come alive in learning? What can connect them to the subject they are studying? This is what I strive for in teaching any student. I tailor instruction to your child's individual learning strengths and develop a plan to engage them in what they are learning. I spend time in the first meeting interviewing parents and child to assess this. Is your child struggling over a simple concept in one area? Do they need broader instruction for a subject? Do they want to get ahead in a subject? I'm your mom. This tutoring experience is called Peanut Butter Waffles Academy, which is what my daughters called their home-school. I homeschooled both of my daughters and was a co-op teacher, for five years. I now strictly offer tutoring for and full lessons for public, private and homeschoolers in grades K-8. Subjects that I cover in those grade levels are as follows, but not limited to: grammar, reading, writing, cursive, math (up to pre-algebra), science, history, music theory, music history, social studies, and art history. I am available during the regular school year, Monday-Friday from 7am-10am and 4pm-8pm, Saturdays from 11am-4pm. On school breaks and summer, I am available Monday-Friday, 10am-8pm and Saturdays from 11am-4pm (excluding holidays.) I will make exceptions on a case by case basis. I am college educated, currently trying to finish a degree in Sociology with a minor in Education. I have extensive experience with Aspergers Syndrome, ADHD, and ODD. I have two daughters of my own, one of which was homeschooled from 2nd to 6th grade and is now attending 8th grade. She is on the honor roll and taking accelerated classes. The other daughter did preschool and kindergarten at home and is ahead of her class as well. In my spare time, I volunteer as a troop leader and a service unit manager for Girl Scouts KCMO. I have been a troop leader in girl scouts for almost six years. I have numerous references. I am currently employed part-time with Park Hill School District in Kansas City as a lunchroom/recess supervisor.
