FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The price range varies depending on what the menu is, how expensive the choices are. If there is a budget that needs to include all food, labor, equipment I will discuss what menu items fit within that budget. For private cooking lessons my rate is $40 an hour and I typically do 3 hour sessions. I currently teach classes at the culinary school and I can teach you everything from knife cuts to full meals but coming into your home where you provide the food and equipment will help with the cost. (Based on going to the school where it's $1000 a class) For private in home meals (1-8people) with wine pairings my rate is $500 not including cost of food. If there are more then 8 people I would need to bring in another person which would be $75 an hour for them. Labor is separate from cost of food. Any event that needs services outside of food, bar tending and clean up will need to be purchased or rented from another vendor.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I discuss their needs and wants over the phone, expectations and what I can provide at first. Depending on the event I can meet with them to help them plan a menu, or give them a tasting of what I can provide (tastings are for larger events)
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
ACF certified, Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management, 12 years experience in the restaurant industry, TIPS alcohol safety certified. Have catered events as small as 10 people (7 course meal with wine pairings) to 400 people (buffet style, fashion show)
