Ben Cook

Introduction: I have been teaching private lessons since 2010, and currently have 16 students ranging from 6-year old beginners to advanced adults. I specialize in Classical and Jazz music, particularly from the 19th - 20th century. I received my education from Wisconsin Lutheran College from 2011-2015 and have earned 3 BA's in music: Music Performance, Music Theory & Composition, and Music History & Literature. While in college I was the president and founder of the Mariachi Band, President of the Pep Band, Tour Manager for the Concert Band's national tours, and Principal Chair of more than 8 ensembles. Currently I serve as a professional instructor, accompanist, and performer in the Milwaukee area. When I am not performing or teaching I like to compose orchestral and piano music and study the works of the great composers. Rachmaninoff, Bruckner, Elgar, and Chopin are of particular interest to me. I enjoy watching the discovery of new music, and new musical ideas in my students. I think it's the mark of a good teacher who can guide their students to making their own discoveries, rather than a mere presentation of facts and techniques.
