FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I avoid having a complicated pricing system. I heard of freelancers charging one price for a transcription of 1 voice, another price for 2 voices, another for a clear tape, another for a fuzzy one etc... it would drive me insane. I bid according to the difficulty, time required. If the client thinks I am too high, I will explain the problems.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
There has been a lot of new developments over the years, from new vocabulary to the way people do business. For example I am currently taking a course in deep Research to use when good old Google is not enough. It gives me an edge over my competitors, and I can come up with ideas or suggestions to share with my clients.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was a young teacher, but did not like all the politics and back stabbing, so when an opportunity to write a brochure for a private company next door came along, I took it and continued to freelance on the side. I guess I am not a water cooler gal.
