FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Calculating the cost of grinding a stump is fairly easy. A little measuring and some simple calculating and your done. We charge $4.50 per inch and can usually give a discount for more than one stump. (depends on conditions) The way you figure the inches is you measure the diameter (width) of the stump at ground level. If the ground is humped up around the stump, extend the diameter to include grinding the hump to grade level. Always measure the widest point of the stump. If a stump needs to be cut off there may be a small charge to finish cutting to ground. We can usually cut for free in most cases though. There could be an additional charge for large roots. We offer Senior Discounts and Veteran Discounts. We have a $100.00 minimum charge. Additional charges may apply for stump grinding north of Layton and south of Lehi.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the tree care industry since 1979. I started working for a large international company cleaning up behind the tree trimmers. Then I worked for a local professional tree service where I learned to operate many different types of equipment including front loaders, chippers, bucket trucks, stump grinders and more. I quickly moved my way up the ladder of the industry by learning how to trim and remove trees. I worked for a few different tree companies in the Salt Lake City area till 1991. At that time I started my own tree service. I owned and operated the tree service for 11 years then decided to turn the business over to one of my children. At that time I began specializing in stump grinding and have been at it since.
