FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our pricing system is not complicated, but cannot be boxed up and listed on our website. Our prices are based on how much time we believe it would take the crew to perform the work, the equipment that would be required, and the amount of debris that would need to be disposed of when the job is completed. This information is ascertained when our sales representatives physically inspect the location of the work.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely. As an ISA-Certified Utility & Municipal Arborist, I am required to maintain continuing education credits and renew my certifications regularly. This goes for all of our ISA-Certified Arborists and NYSDEC-Certified Applicators on-staff. I am also required to maintain CEU's and renew bi-annually my Certified Treecare Safety Professional credential. These CEU's and renewals help us to be constantly improving our knowledge and skills.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We have been a commercial staple on Long Island for over 95 years and have several 2nd, or even 3rd, generation clients who remembered us working with their parents. Our reputation and longevity speak for themselves. When looking for a contractor in this very competitive Long Island environment, our advice would be to seek out, as best you can, the most reputable and honest company. Ask questions and don't be afraid to be forceful with the questions if you don't feel that you are getting an appropriate answer. Ask for references and check those references. We are not afraid to be honest with our customers. If we do not feel that the requested work is warranted - "i'd like a price to remove this tree because I think it is dying," we will let the potential client know: "this tree isn't dying; it just needs some regular watering and it will green back up. I wouldn't take this tree down, if I were you." We know that other contractors out there would rather just do the work and pocket the money, but we care about establishing trust and honesty with potential customers and we've found that people will remember that, and call again when they are looking for someone they can rely on to tell them the truth. Also, it is imperative that - as a homeowner - you make sure that any contractor you hire to work on your property be properly licensed and insured, for your safety and peace of mind. Too often, we read about an inexperienced worker, or a day laborer working for cash, getting hurt on, or causing damage to, a homeowner's property. Without the proper insurance in place, any damage or injuries that occur while the contractor is under your employ, fall back to the homeowner. We carry a very strong reputation for safety, and a very strong safety record, but we also carry all the required insurance so you, the homeowner, need not worry while the work is taking place.
