I’m giving this one star for one specific reason: bait and switch pricing. The ad clearly stated a $50 diagnostic fee waived if you use the service — which I did — yet the final charge didn’t reflect that. The pro didn’t come out himself, which is fine, but the technician who did quoted $150 to replace a flush valve and kit — despite the fact that I had already removed all the old parts myself before the appointment. I even sent photos the night before through the Thumbtack message thread. All he had to do was install the new components. The job took less than 10 minutes, yet I was charged the full amount. The tech told me this is just their “flat rate,” which feels misleading. I went ahead and paid because walking away would’ve cost me the $50 visit fee anyway, but the experience felt like an upsell tactic. I suggest finding someone more transparent and honest about pricing. Those two parts to install don’t cost $150 to install, especially if they have already been removed.
