We are happy to work.woth homeowners, investors, property managers, commercial project managers and government authorities.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Many handypersons represent themselves as contractors. While the state of Oklahoma doesn't have a licensing process for contractors outside of Roofing, Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC, the state of Arkansas DOES. Consumers are protected when they do business with anyone performing work on a residential structure when the work (materials and labor, regardless of who pays for what) totals $2000 or more. It is unlawful for those persons to perform work without adequate state contractors licensed. And, if not a licensed "General" contractor, the contractor or subcontractor will have a limited scope that he can work within, by trade line and dollar amount. If a consumer finds out that a handyperson or contractor is not licensed, the contract for work is void and the homeowner does not owe the contractor a penny for any service performed, as it was unlawful. If you have questions about a contractor or want to verify his/her license limits, call the Arkansas Contractors License Board directly or Search the site in your convenience. - What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Are they listed on the Arkansas Secretary of State's Business Entity Search as a Good Standing Entity? Are they listed on the Arkansas Contractors Board Search as an ACTIVE Licensed Contractor? Can the contractor provide you with an ACTIVE Certificate of General Liability Insurance AND Workers Compensation Insurance? If any of these answer NO, then do not hire that contractor! If not, don't hire them!
