FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Many years of working with the public. I enjoy meeting new people and being such a small part of their special day. Currently, I have not attended any cake decorating classes. My training has come from two sources, on the job & self taught. I hope to take some classes in the future to build on the skills I have.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was 17, I was hired as a cashier for a bakery close to my home. I would spend my lunch break in the back every day watching the cake decorators in sheer amazement. I knew right away I wanted to learn how to decorate cakes. After a couple days, the lead decorator asked if I would like to take some decorating bags home to practice. I was thrilled. Every night after work I would practice writing, making flowers & borders. pastry bags to take home so I could practice making flowers, borders and writing on cakes. Within a short period of time my work was cake worthy.. and I was promoted to cake decorator.
