I hired Chris to clean our carpets, furniture, and beds. He was quick to respond and his prices beat the competition by far! The only feedback I would provide is, the initial contact through thumbtack stated he had times available the next day which was a Saturday and what I needed, however, when we actually spoke he couldn't schedule me until Monday. In addition, we were scheduled between 10-noon and he was running behind, so he didn't get to us until about 1pm, which delayed plans for the day and I wasn't notified until shortly after noon, however, he ended up charging a little less than our quote and did a great job. I wasnt sure what to expect with rates so low but he did a great job and our carpets/furniture look great, so over all I was happy and would definitely recommend and use him again!

JJ came to clean our tile, grout & carpet. We only had 2 rms. with carpet and he threw that it for us after doing our tile & grout with sealer. He did a terrific job, moved some furniture we had not move, return the furniture after cleaning. He used corner guards for your walls, worn protective covering on his shoes, brought fans to dry areas when he was working elsewhere. Cleaned all the baseboards, great job! Very nice young man. On time and the price was great!! Will recommend him with pleasure and continue to use Ultimate Floor Care in the future.

Fantastic experience! Ishmael did a fantastic job of cleaning our furniture and carpets. Very courteous and professional. We had a nice furniture set that was edging disaster after a few years of kids and pets. It's once again like new!

We were extremely pleased with the services provided by Robert and Best Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning. Our carpets were a mess (with worn, high traffic areas and pet stains), but now they look great. I would highly recommend Best.

Tom was very good cleaning our leather furniture set, timely and friendly. The only hitch was a need to reschedule due to misunderstanding over the type of material on the furniture (leather not microfiber).

I used West Valley Carpet Cleaning for a rental unit that I moved out of. I was not home at the time of cleaning and I left the key for him to be able to get into the until. When I came back to the property to finish cleaning the carpets were BEAUTIFUL! I was very impressed at the job that Ross did. Thank you for a great job!

We loved our service call and rugs cleaned wonderfully and two recliners and couch also! VERY happy! Will definitely have them back again! Also, he spent time teaching us about our carpet & furniture fabrics and how to best care for them.👍

Originally was looking for someone to clean my house upon moving out. Things changed however but Pat was still able to help me out. Instead of the cleaning we needed large furniture taken away and her crew was able to do that at a very short notice and got it done at the time we agreed on. Her responses to e-mails were quick and she was easily reached when I called her.

Brad and his Beeline Steam Carpet Cleaning is "top of the line!" He works harder than any carpet cleaner we've had and the result is bright, clean carpets. Brad is very neat and wears covers on his shoes and leave a pair for the customer to use while the carpets are drying. In addition to 3 areas of white carpets, he did 3, small throw rugs and they came out clean and bright. Brad is friendly, sincere, knowledgeable, industrious, and honest. He does what he says he'll do and backs it up with hard work and great results. When they need it again, Brad and Beeline Steam will be cleaning our carpets! Carpet cleaning. Did a good job on the, carpets. One minor suggestion. Have you guy carry a small Hand vac. The buffer left some cloth behind after he finished which we vacced up. Nothing serious, but would only take a few minutes and people would be impressed. Thanks for the prompt service. Would definitely use again

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

Who cleans couches?

Even if your furniture doesn’t appear dirty or stained, your couches are collecting just as much dust, pollen, germs, pet hair and dander, and even food crumbs as your carpets. In general, the same professionals who clean your carpets and drapes can also clean your couches. Carpet cleaners usually offer upholstery cleaning services as well, and may offer a discount if you have your carpets cleaned at the same time. Alternatively, you can choose from a range of professional upholstery cleaners in your area who specialize in cleaning different types of upholstery fabrics, including delicate antique fabrics and other hard-to-clean materials such as suede. In addition to deep-cleaning the entire piece of furniture, sofa cleaners can spot-treat food, pet, and oil and grease stains. Most professionals also offer services to sanitize and deodorize your furniture and apply protectants to prevent future stains. As with carpets, experts recommend that you have your upholstered furniture cleaned once every year or two, depending on how much use it gets and whether you have children and pets.

How much does upholstery cleaning cost?

The cost to have your upholstered furniture cleaned depends mostly on two factors: the size of the furniture and the type of fabric. The national average cost of upholstery cleaning ranges from $120 to $150. Most people have multiple pieces cleaned at once, but sofa cleaners will come to your home for just one heavily soiled couch or to spot-treat stains. The smaller the furniture, the lower the cost: A lounge chair may cost an average of $50 to clean, while a couch costs an average of $135 and an L-shaped sectional costs an average of $190. Delicate materials such as antique fabrics or suede upholstery are more expensive to clean than sturdier ones. Having the sofa cleaner do repairs will also add to the cost. Repairs such as mending a tear in fabric or patching a hole in leather may be charged by the task or by the hour; in general, repairs cost an average of $15 each. Special or delicate fabrics may cost additional fees, too.
