I found Martha through Thumbtack. She responded to my request very quickly. She did an excellent job on my new suit which needed the sleeves shortened and pant legs shortened and hemmed. I would highly recommend her for any suit altering!

I purchased a couple of awesome jackets online. When I received them they were both a little to large and needed alterations. So I found this Thumbtack app looking for a seamstress. That's how I found Martha and took her my jackets. She did a fantastic job and her prices are very reasonable. Martha is very nice and stayed in communication with me. Now my awesome jackets fit me perfect! I highly recommend Martha for your sewing and alteration needs. I recommended her to my neighbor for a couple of pair of pants that needed the legs shortened. As a beginning sewer. I could not get an invisible zipper put into a dress made of very delicate fabric. I had to rip the zipper out three times and finally gave up. I needed someone to put the zipper in before I destroyed the dress I had worked so hard on and let me watch her do it. Martha easily shared her years of sewing knowledge with me. And it must have worked because I just got done putting in an invisible zipper today!

Some alterations and custom sewing is priced on time and materials plus labor. EVery projects is unique which requires lots of info from the customer to be able to quote a price accurately
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Always looking for new techniques and staying on top of current trends. I also keep upgrading the type of machines I have, recently adding a top of the line serger.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Retired from my 35 year career in real estate and relocation. I wanted to start my own business working from home. My mother taught me how to sew at the age of 8 and I have sewed constantly ever since. I enjoy working from home in my studio and teaching sewing and quilting on the side.
