About
I am a respected, professional flutist and flute teacher in the Northeast Phoenix/Scottsdale area. I play principal flute in the Symphony of the Southwest, Phoenix Opera and Four Seasons Orchestra as well as a frequent soloist in many chamber groups here in the valley. Lessons are given in my home on the edges of the 101 and 51 freeways and online, always with a caring and nurturing atmosphere. My students enjoy successes such as: First chairs in their school bands; Section leadership skills; Top ratings and winnings in solo festivals and competitions; High school and Junior High All Region and All State placements; Phoenix Youth Symphony and Youth Symphony of the Southwest. I also enjoy working with students returning to the flute after many years, helping to refine their skills so that they can enjoy their community bands, orchestras, flute choirs and playing in their worship services.
If your instrument needs repair, I will suggest professional people in your area for service. I also ask for books and solos to be purchased pertaining to our current level.
I enjoy bringing the love of flute into people's lives by growing, increasing skill and becoming better at their craft no matter how they enjoy playing: professionally, orchestra, band, flute choir, casually, and purely for the enjoyment.

Katrina did so much good for my son. She is an excellent teacher. Adam was ready for his College audition and was accepted into the School of Music. He was prepared for extra auditions throughout the state. I highly recommend Katrina to any flute player. She is amazing and my son really enjoyed her teaching and took everything she said to heart and grew so much. It is too bad she can not go away to college with him. Thank you KATRINA we feel so blessed to have had you as a teacher.

Katrina is simply the best! I hadn't picked up the flute since middle school (now 28 years old) and she's made the return to music and learning such a great experience. If you're hesitating about hiring a teacher/mentor, it's worth it. Katrina is knowledgeable, patient, and just a kind person. Thank-you Katrina!!

I am a mother of a child who has a lesson with Ms. King. For 6 years, every lesson of every week, I was there with my child to listen how she taught my son and I always recommend her to other parent who approached to me to give him a compliment how well he played . I am so happy to have her as my son"s flute teacher.

I've been studying for a while w/ Katrina; she's always been super professional and a great source of musical inspiration. I'm a middle aged guy returning to flute playing since high school. She makes the lessons fun and helps motivate me to practice. I've learned a lot from her ... and hope others will read this and consider her as a teacher for any level of flute student (and any age I might add).

Katrina is enthusiastic, encouraging, and upbeat! My son has progressed rapidly on the flute after studying with her. I appreciate that Katrina does not "spoon-feed" him the rhythms; she gently reminds him that he can figure them out on his own. She always has a positive teaching disposition - highly recommended!
