Introduction: Locations in Scarsdale and Mt Kisco, NY and Phoenix, AZ The backbone of La Piazza di Carolina's quality is the 20 + years of experience teaching Italian to all age levels. Our methodology is based on the Middlebury College's Language School's philosophy that a foreign language is best learned through total immersion. We concentrate on this method and incorporate Italian styles like Montessori and Reggio Emilia approach. We don't just teach the Italian language, we teach in the language. We love when our children mutter their first words in Italian while playing. This is the organic strategy that differentiates us from traditional language learning. With adults I bring a communicative approach set to achieve the goals of each students. Audio and visual technology is always used.

My 3/12 year-old daughter loves her "Scuola di Italiano" with Signora Carolina. Even though she only attends two mornings a week and started last September, she already uses the language without prompting, tries to make up compound words on her own--many times successfully--and constantly wants to know how to say words in Italian. I am not a native speaker and only know conversational Italian, and my husband doesn't (or didn't!) know Italian at all. We are both learning from her and her coursework, which delights and amazes us all. My mom (who is standing right here and looking over my shoulder--no I'm not kidding, this is what Italian mothers do--is thrilled that her granddaughter is carrying on her heritage. I should also mention how patient and good-natured Signora Carolina is with my daughter, who is a very imaginative and verbose child. Our family appreciates La Piazza di Carolina and its family-friendly, nurturing environment. With its classes for both children and adults, enrichment programs, playgroups, cultural field trips and more, it is on its way to becoming a much-needed resource for families who want to embrace their Italian heritage and culture.

Our son started taking classes with Carolina when he was 2 years old. At that time he loved attending La Piazza di Carolina's "I primi passi" (mommy and me) classes. Carolina is so enthusiastic and her classes are such fun that he was learning without realizing it. As I do not speak Italian fluently, I also learned a lot since the classes are full immersion and fun for both parents and childen. Our son is nearly 4 years old now and has continued on at La Piazza di Carolina attending summer camp, cooking classes for kids and is presently enrolled in Italian preschool. He absolutely loves it!! I often find him at home on the couch reading by himself, naming all the animale o colore in Italian. Moreover, he completely understands and responds when he is spoken to in Italian by our family. It is sad for me to admit, but on our recent 3 week trip to Italy our son definitely understood and spoke more Italian than I did!! Our family would highly recommend programs at La Piazza di Carolina to all of our family and friends.... Grazie per tutti!

A few months ago my three and four year old grandchildren began Italian lessons with Carolina. They love her .She appreciates the short attention span of young children and diversifies the lesson so that they remain interested. They are learning the language and will appreciate their heritage all the more as a result.Brava Carolina!

After just a few lessons at La Piazza di Carolina, our small group is chatting in Italian like old friends at a caffe on the Via V.Veneto in Rome. I have gone from buon giorno and ciao to vocabulary I can use to talk about many topics - films, cooking, feste , cultural events, politics, my grandchildren, la dolce vita , etc. Carolina's enthusiasm and knowledge allows for relaxed, non-threatening learning. I can speak without worrying about making an error, allowing for spontaneity (the best way to learn a new language). Carolina gently teaches vocabulary and grammar in context, and provides a supportive and fun experience.
