I’ve been teaching guitar for 19 years, working with students of all ages and skill levels, and I can’t imagine doing anything else. I currently teach most of my students online through Zoom, FaceTime, and similar platforms, making it easy to learn from wherever you are.
My passion is helping you play the music you love. I’ve taught a wide range of styles and artists, and I always aim to keep lessons fun, engaging, and tailored to your goals. All lesson and song materials are provided digitally so you can easily access everything you need to practice.

My daughter did online guitarlessons with Matt, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He was incredibly patient, kind, and encouraging. He made Adley feel comfortable right away, which really helped her confidence and love for learning music. Matt has been teaching both of my kids for a few years and I have to say that I am very satisfied with their progress. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For online students, I offer the first lesson for free. I do have standard lesson rates that I charge ($30 per half hour lesson, $40 per 45-minute lesson, and $50 per hour lesson), but for my students, I am willing to negotiate lesson rates! I am also flexible on payments, whether you want to pay for every lesson or for a group of lessons. I'll work with what works best for you!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After we connect on Thumbtack, I try to set up a time for our first lesson. During that lesson, we'll figure out what direction we want to go guitar-wise and music-wise. And then we'll start working that way throughout our lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have played music for over 20 years (in bands and regularly in a church setting) and have a lot of experience helping others learn as well.
