FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Contrary to what some may think, there is no "degree" in Social Media that is current on trends. A great Social Media person regularly reads blogs, participates in chats on Twitter, and connects with other Social Media Managers to learn from them. Life can teach you way more than you can learn in a classroom, and that goes for everything!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been doing Social Media for my own brand for almost ten years. I started with Myspace to promote my comedy and radio show. Once platforms like Facebook and Twitter came around, I already understood the value of building relationships via Social Media. Once I started to learn how to REALLY do it, I decided to start marketing myself in the field.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The majority of my clients want management of Facebook and Twitter. I have a couple who also include Pinterest and Instagram. I never encourage businesses to add a platform that I don't think is appropriate for them OR their audience. I also teach people how to manage their Social Media platforms, the right way. I know not everyone can afford to hire a full-time Social Media Manager, so it feels good to teach them properly and watch their knowledge put to use. Once they see that there's a right way, and a wrong way, to do SM, they really begin to believe in it for their branding!
