Student Centered Tutoring

My teaching background of 30 years range from junior to senior high school with 1 year in a mixed 5th/6th grade classroom. During my teaching career, I taught drama, public speaking, basic math through beginning algebra, reading skills, comprehension, composition, and social studies/history. My B.A. was in theater arts and English, and I have a master's degree in special education. I believe that all students can learn and excel if the teacher starts where the student's level of understanding is at present, proceeding from there to discover the student's learning style. My style of teaching involves the use of positive reinforcement and encouragement to help the student find his/her own path to success. I believe that teaching should be student centered, focused on developing their talents and increasing the understanding of their possibilities.
