If you need live music in addition to a DJ:

My husband, Lynde Hunt, is a professional musician. Lynde is available as solo piano or sax. His band, Lindy's Groove, is inspired by the swing era, with emphasis on 'danceability' and groovy rhythms. Lindy's Groove is available as duo, piano and female vocalist, combo and big band.

Since we share the same equipment and have one load-in and setup, you will get a better price than hiring a separate band and separate DJ.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. "What do you charge?"

Since every event is custom, I can't list an hourly rate on this site. In order to give a quote, I need to speak to you, over the phone or in person, in order to ask some questions about the details of what you are planning.

It's like asking the caterer "What do you charge for a dinner for 50 people"? Obviously, the caterer can't give a price until more information is gathered, like menu, # of courses, formal or informal, sit-down or buffet... As the DJ, I have important questions that need to be answered as well.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. Here is some information on pricing from the American Disc Jockey Association website:

Disc Jockey rates vary based on talent, experience, emcee ability, service, coordination, equipment needed, music knowledge, mixing ability and personality.

Rates for the DJ industry vary greatly, ranging from $350.00 to over $5,000.00 with an average of $1,200.00 for a 4 hour booking. The best price is not always the best deal, especially if you are planning a very important event. As a matter of fact, surveys conclude that almost everyone who had planned a special ocassion would have spent more money on their entertainment and made it their #1 priority in hindsight.

A full-service disc jockey will normally invest 12 to 30 hours to your special event but it may appear that you are only paying for “4 hours”. Consultations, music purchasing & editing, programming, preparation, set-up and tear-down, education and other business related endeavors add up to the overall success of your special occasion.
