Patient Math Tutoring Services

I am an experienced and patient math tutor covering general math, pre-algebra, algebra I and II, geometry, precalculus, calculus and ACT & SAT math. I hold a BS in Civil Engineering and an MBA. My students have ranged from elementary school to adults re-entering college. I love working one-on-one with students to help them succeed in math. It is my experience that students are better in math than they realize but they lack confidence which holds them back. My goal is to build confidence and teach them to think independently. Many times, students may need a concept explained differently to grasp it. Graphical representation helps. I will also change word problems to something that is relatable for them. If appropriate, we can work on organizational skills for studying and homework which will translate to other classes, as well. For SAT and ACT math prep, the best way to increase your score is practice, practice, practice. There is no magic bullet. Many of the SAT questions are very different in format from your typical homework. While the math required is not sophisticated, the approach to solving the problems is. The practice will familiarize the student with techniques to solve these equations. I am a patient tutor with a good sense of humor. It is important to develop a bond with the student to facilitate trust. I tutor math because I love it! I have been fortunate to establish long term relationships. Many of my students have been with me 3+ years. I'm passionate about learning and strive for it to be contagious. I care about my students and want them to look forward to their success in math.
